Members gathered for the purpose of voting on the call to Tim Hayse as senior pastor of Christ Community Church.

On Sunday, June 28th, more than 90 members of Christ Community Church gathered for the purpose of voting on a call to Tim Hayse for senior pastor. Immediately following the worship service with guest preacher Ryan Harding (City Church), ballots with call details were distributed and Michael Marshall was nominated as moderator of the congregational meeting. After some discussion, the vote yielded an overwhelming majority “Yes” vote.

The Pulpit Nominating Committee then gathered before the group, and elder Nate Henkel thanked them and their families for their sacrifice and commitment to the body and to the process of finding our pastoral nominee. Lynn Livers concluded the afternoon meeting by thanking the congregation for its unity and support over the past year.

Our leadership extended the call to Tim yesterday and he accepted it. The official call details as adopted yesterday by three times a quorum of our membership will now be delivered to the North Florida Presbytery of our denomination (the PCA) for approval. Pending that, we have a tentative timeline in place that puts the Hayse family here in Gainesville by mid August.

On Sunday, May 31, the Pulpit Nominating Committee announced the nomination of Tim Hayse for the role of senior pastor at Christ Community Church. This exciting announcement is the culmination of 9 months of vigorous seeking and searching. You will find a letter from Tim below, and you can also hear him preach by visiting http://nsfellowship.org/sermons/. We also announced the schedule for some very important events coming in June. Please save these dates:

  • We have scheduled an interview weekend for June 20-21st in which Tim and Robin will be at CCC, meeting with many groups within the church. Tim will also preach on Sunday, June 21st, and afterwards the congregation will share a meal with the Hayse family.
  • On June 28th we will have a congregational meeting for the purpose of voting to call Tim as our next Senior pastor.

In the coming weeks, we will be working to keep the congregation updated on specific details. We also welcome your questions and feedback. Please do not hesitate to contact any of the church’s leadership as we walk through this process together.

Hello Christ Community Church!

We are excited to meet all of you! My wife Robin and I both grew up in Florida. We met in school at King College in Bristol, Tennessee, where I earned a BA in Business Administration. Together, we served at Christ Church of Jacksonville right out of college. After my training at Reformed Theological Seminary in Orlando, I joined the staff of North Shore Fellowship in Chattanooga. We have been serving there for 8 years now.

Robin and I have been married for 13 years and have three children. Noah is 9 and loves baseball; Anna is 7 and enjoys drawing and art; and Avery just turned 6 and loves baby dolls and pretending to be a mama. As a family we enjoy sports, being outside, and sharing a good meal. We love people and having them in our home. We are grateful and humbled by the call Jesus has on our lives to serve His church.

Psalm 103:2-5a is our family’s theme Scripture:

Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits, who forgives all your iniquity, who heals all your diseases, who redeems your life from the pit, who crowns you with steadfast love and mercy, who satisfies you with good.”

We long for a gratitude that is rooted in the grace of Christ Jesus who rescues and redeems our lives. Our prayer is that we know his love and mercy and seek satisfaction in him alone. Thank you for those who have been praying for our family in this process.

We have also been praying for you and your church in this time and are excited to meet each of you. We are both humbled and excited at the possibility of serving and celebrating our precious Jesus together as we seek His Kingdom in Gainesville.

Grace and Peace,

Tim Hayse

John testifies to the reality of Jesus’ incarnation–God’s life-giving love to the world.

Womens Bible Study

Members of our Bible Study meet with a guest speaker while hosting this years Seasoned Gators brunch.

Please join us this spring for a 7-week Bible study through the Epistle of 1 John.
We will be answering these questions and much more:

  • When you find yourself falling again and again in a certain area, stuck in some habitual sin, what impact does it have on your life? How do you usually try to remedy the situation?
  • Consistency — being steadfast and steady–whether it regards a diet, a friendship, or one’s walk with God, is a struggle for everyone.  What makes it so difficult?  What things get in the way as we seek to be people of integrity, consistency, and follow though?
  • Think of the people who have most influenced you. How have they shaped you? Why were they able to be so influential?
  •  In calling us to a life of love, John first gives an example of hate that helps us understand love and calls us to self-examination. What does this passage tell us about hate? What are its object, its origin, and its provocation? How does it manifest itself, both overtly and subtly? What do the presence of hate and the absence of love indicate about a person?
Using John’s words in verses 16-18, how would you define love? Why is Christ’s death on the cross the supreme example? How can that example help you to love difficult people?
