We’ve got some great projects lined up for the work day tomorrow from 8am to noon. Two magnificent piles of mulch await us, along with a nice list of areas that need some TLC. I’m considering this our spring cleaning, only outside instead of inside. We’ll be outside all day, so wear a hat and bring some sun screen. We’ll provide the water, and the multipurpose room will be open for shade, A/C and bathroom access. Families, feel free to bring the whole crew.
Tools you can bring: Rakes, Pitchforks, Wheelbarrows, and Gloves.
No need to stop @ Starbucks tomorrow. I’ll have coffee for you.
In this week’s Reminders & Reflections email, we included some information on Sunday School classes that might have caused some confusion. Here’s an overview of what is being offered this week, running through the end of March:
First John Study – Have you heard these sayings? “Walk in the light,” “look out for false teachings,” “love one another,” “children of God,” “test the spirit,” or “have faith in Jesus.” These are all teachings that are found in the book of 1st John. John challenges believers to what they stand for as children of God. Come study this book and grow in your walk with God as you study His word. Meets in the sanctuary
Needed for class: Bible
Led by: Richard White
***
The Treasure Principle Study (Crossroads & College) – What are the treasures of your heart? How does God allow us to be stewards of His resources? Jesus talks about His followers having the JOY of giving and the proper perspective of the resources we possess multiple times throughout the scriptures. Come join us to be challenged on how to have a biblical perspective of the resources God owns and you possess. Meets in room #122
Needed for class: Bible and “The Treasure Principle” book (copies available for $5.00)
Led by: Josh Fischer, Jen Hernandez, and Billy Crow

Community Group Leader Training – As one of the core values of the church, we believe that believers in Christ should be in fellowship, study, and life together. This is where we live out the gospel together in everyday situations. CCC finds it important to continue to build small groups of 8-15 people which can meet regularly to apply these principals. This class is for current and future leaders of community groups, men’s groups, women’s groups, or those desiring to see if God is leading them to serve in this leadership role within the church. Meets in Office Complex conference room
Needed for class: Bible. Notes and resources will be distributed in class.
Led by: Frank Matthews

“The Six-Day Worker: Grasping for Meaning in Work” – In this seminar style class (reading group) we read and discuss essays and literary selections as we try to make sense out of our daily work. Whether we are in a dream job, patiently awaiting the next rung on the career ladder, preparing to enter a vocation, or just wondering if anyone notices all the work we do at home without a paycheck, we will explore the ways in which our work is tied up in the work of Jesus. Rooted in reflective reading of important texts, we’ll consider together how to bring both our angst and our hopes into a Christian perspective on work. Meets in room #124
Required weekly reading assignments are posted online at http://thesixdayworker.wordpress.com/
Led by: Stephen Addcox and Todd Best
Pictured here is a gathering to support a missionary close to CCC, held in our conference room today. Jesse Krenz helped lay the brick for our building. Now he is laying new foundations for ministry in Africa with his wife, Heather. You can learn more about his organization, Overland Missions, explore details about his mission to Livingstone, Zambia here, or contact him at jesse (at) overlandmissions.com.
In traditions that span the spectrum of Christian song and substance that constitutes corporate worship, you might find a number of common threads that unify rather than distinguish. A Call to Worship that employs scripture to remind us of God’s initiation of corporate worship. A time of corporate confession. Or, a brief prayer or song called the Trisagion, which mirrors quite literally this image of God’s throne room in Revelation 4:
“…and before the throne there was as it were a sea of glass, like crystal. And around the throne, on each side of the throne, are four living creatures, full of eyes in front and behind: the first living creature like a lion, the second living creature like an ox, the third living creature with the face of a man, and the fourth living creature like an eagle in flight. And the four living creatures, each of them with six wings, are full of eyes all around and within, and day and night they never cease to say, “Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord God Almighty, who was and is and is to come!” (Revelation 4:6-8 ESV)
In our gatherings on Sundays, we are leveraging the simplicity and richness of Fernando Ortega’s version of the Trisagion throughout the Lenten period. If you are unfamiliar with it, I encourage you to purchase a copy of the track here. You can also preview it for free. See you Sunday.
