This is the contents of an email sent to the youth parents a couple hours ago:
Greetings,

A little while ago I announced to the youth that this is my last semester as Youth Director at Christ Community Church. I am stepping down in May. It was a very hard decision to make, but after a lot of prayer and conversations with the pastors and session of Christ Community, I decided that it was time for me to leave my position. I’m not sure what is coming next for Erin and me. We will be trying to figure that out over the next couple months. We greatly appreciate all the support you’ve shown us, and I personally rejoice to God that I’ve had the opportunity to do this job over the past four years. I started without much experience and thinking I knew more than I actually did (it was a quick, rude awakening), but God has been gracious to grow me and the youth ministry over the years. My heart melts when I think of God’s goodness in growing our group from 6 kids to 25-30 on Sunday nights. I’m blown away when I ponder the unthinkable providence of God in who He’s led to help in the youth ministry. The strongest feeling I have right now is sheer thankfulness for the relationships I’ve formed with the youth over the years. Watching the youth grow and learn and struggle and fight for joy and stumble and believe and open up and think and so much more has been something I will treasure for the rest of my life. Thank you for the opportunity to help lead your children. Thank you for the support you’ve shown the youth ministry. This is really hard for me, but I know God promises to be faithful to bring to completion that good work He’s began at the day of Christ Jesus (Philippians 1:6). I am here for the next few months. I plan to work hard, be there for the youth, and leave the youth ministry in a strong position for it’s next phase. Please be praying.

In Christ,
Nate

To the Parents of the youth,

Nate Taylor has been a tremendous asset to Christ Community Church.  In addition to leading our youth group, Nate and Erin have been vibrant participants in all phases of our church life.  They are such a joy and strength to our church family.  The session helped Nate process this change every step of the way.  Though we don’t know what God has in store for them next we are very confident that He will continue to use them mightily as agents of grace and encouragement.  What is next for CCC and the youth?  The elders are working on that plan and you’ll be hearing from us in February.  Until then, let’s continue to enjoy Nate’s leadership and and pray for God to provide the next step to the Taylors, and to Christ Community.  Please contact me or any of the elders if you have any questions or comments.
