We’re gearing up for the Missions Conference and Chili Cook-off, and I’m pleased to announce that there will be more than 20 different types of chili at the event. This is set to be the biggest cook-off yet, and I know competition will be fierce this year. If you’re not bringing anything, don’t worry about it! There will be plenty of food, and be on the lookout for some innovative new categories in the voting this year!

For those not familiar with our conference speaker, here is an extensive bio from RestoreLiberia.org:

One joy of having Chuck McArthur speak during our Global Mission Conference is that he brings experience training local men in the Scriptures. He is following the pattern the Apostle Paul urged upon Timothy: “The things you have heard me say in the presence of many witnesses entrust to reliable people who will also be qualified to teach others.”   2 Timothy 2:2

Pastor CollageSee you at 6pm Friday for the Chili Cook Off and a message from Chuck. Read about Restore Liberia on his site.

There is also a wonderful program designed just for children that will take place after the Chili Cook Off.

Wonderful afternoon Sunday preparing food and gifts that will be shared tonight with teachers and families at A. Quinn Jones, and meals to be shared with families and individuals in need at ccc.  morethanfood10.13.4 morethanfood10.13.5 Morethanfood10.13.1 Morethanfood10.13.2 MorethanFood10.13.3

Here’s a note from the missions committee. They’re hard at work planning a great conference for us later this month. Let’s dust off those chili recipes!

Our 2013 Global Missions Conference is just around the corner and we couldn’t be more excited! Mark your calendars for October 18th and 20th and plan to be present!

The Global Missions Conference will begin on Friday, October 18th at 6pm with a familiar CCC favorite, the annual Chili Cook-off. That’s right, folks. Get out those crock-pots, dust off those recipe cards, and come with your favorite chili recipe to take part in our cook-off (of course, you can simply come and enjoy the chili varieties as well!). At 6:45, we will then go into the main sanctuary for some praise and worship followed by a message from Chuck McArthur, our speaker for the weekend. During this time, childcare will be provided.
Then, on Sunday morning, October 20th, the conference will continue. Chuck McArthur will be giving the message during the Worship Services, and then, during the Sunday School hour (both at 9:00 and 10:30am) we will have a missions panel featuring global missionaries that our church supports as well as members of our own congregation who are actively involved in missions work.
So make sure to mark your calendars and plan to be in town October 18th-20th for our 2013 Global Missions Conference! We are excited to see the way that God will move and impact our congregation!
