“For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord.”

Savior: Reflects the call of Jesus to deliver His people, as Mary’s & Zechariah’s hymns had declared (Luke 1::46-55; 67-79)

Christ: Indicative of His role as the promised Messiah

Lord: Though unexplained here, you could say that the rest of Luke’s gospel, plus the sequel (known as Acts) serve to explain the nature of Jesus’ authority and lordship, as well as the extent of the exercise of His power in overcoming sin and the forces of evil.
