In form the song is a victory hymn, a song sung to and about God in praise of His granting victory to His people over their foes.

The ingredients of Israelite hymns may almost always be summarized by the initials SRR:
Summons to praise,
Reasons to praise,
Recapitulation.

All three elements are present in abundance in the Song of Moses.

-Douglas Stuart, Commentary on the Book of Exodus

Douglas Stuart:
So important did the song of Exodus 15 become to all generations of believers that it is described in John’s great apocalyptic vision as a song to be sung even in heaven. they sing the song of Moses, the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying,

“Great and amazing are your deeds,
O Lord God the Almighty!
Just and true are your ways,
O King of the nations!
Who will not fear, O Lord,
and glorify your name?
For you alone are holy.
All nations will come
and worship you,
for your righteous acts have been revealed.” Revelation 15:3-4

I’m excited to restart preaching Exodus on Sunday June 26.  We’ll be looking at the song in chapter fifteen.

We are looking for some talented folks to help us paint beach murals for VBS.  If you have an artistic eye and want to help please email kids@christcommunitychurch.com and let us know!  This is a great way to get involved if you can’t help with VBS during the week!
