What are Community Groups?A Community Group is a group of 5-15 people who meet together weekly for community, spiritual growth, outreach, and leadership development. Community Groups are basic Christian communities. They are the core of our church. It is here that a person's basic needs are met for spiritual, physical, and emotional support in a very intentional and in a one-on-one dynamic. This is where people give and receive pastoral care. At Christ Community Church every member is a minister. These groups enable our people to minister to others and be ministered to by the members of each group. "And let us consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds. Let us not give up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but let us encourage one another--and all the more as you see the Day approaching." - Hebrews 10:24, 25 We are seeking to recapture the life that was written about in the early church. We would love for you to become a part of the body here at Christ Community Church.
Why Should I Get Involved With a Community Group? We believe that Christ calls us to enter into a life together as His people. This means that we are called to not merely spend 2 hours together every Sunday, but we are called to get into the beauty and messiness of life together. It is in these deeper relationships that we will be able to serve each other and truly glorify God. We believe spiritual growth takes place bes in community. Our strategy is to provide pastoral care for people through community. We believe that receiving instruction through community maximizes life change. "Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved." -Acts 2:46-47
How Do I Find A Group? There are many groups to choose from, and we find that the easiest way to begin is by asking you "Where do you live?" Just call one of the groups in an area near where you live. If that sounds too intimidating, just call or email your information to the church office, and we will do our best to help you. The easiest way to find a group would be to visit a Community Group that is in your geographical area. In that group you will meet people who live near you.
Other FAQ's...Who goes to a Community Group? Our groups are mixed with different ages as well as stations in life. We have single people along with couples, parents with their children, as well as those who have never had children. What if I don't life the Group I visit? Our groups are a place to make friends and to help one another grow in relationship with God. There is no pressure to continue to visit one group. We encourage you to visit several until you find one that fits you well. What if there is no Community Group near me? We are working to begin more Community Groups all the time to enable more people to have a group near them. Please let Frank Matthews (379.4949) know if you desire to be in a group and there is not one in your area.
