{"id":4217,"date":"2013-03-28T19:30:16","date_gmt":"2013-03-28T19:30:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/christcommunitychurch.com\/blog\/?p=4217"},"modified":"2013-03-28T19:30:16","modified_gmt":"2013-03-28T19:30:16","slug":"charles-spurgeon-brits-are-awesome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/christcommunitychurch.com\/blog\/2013\/03\/28\/charles-spurgeon-brits-are-awesome\/","title":{"rendered":"Charles Spurgeon &#038; Harry Potter; Brits Are Awesome!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Tonight in our 7pm\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.macmillandictionary.com\/pronunciation\/british\/Maundy-Thursday\" target=\"_blank\">Maundy<\/a> Thursday, along with many other gospel texts, we are dwelling on the words Jesus Christ spoke from the cross.<\/p>\n<p>They are often referred to as &#8220;The Seven Words&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">The sixth word is TETELESTAI&#8211;or &#8220;It is finished.&#8221;<\/span><br \/>\nSpurgeon: <em>Once again\u2014when He said, \u201cIt is finished,\u201d Jesus had totally destroyed the power of Satan, of sin and of death. The Champion had entered the lists to do battle for our soul\u2019s redemption against all our foes. He met Sin. Horrible, terrible, all-but omnipotent Sin nailed Him to the Cross. But in that deed, Christ nailed Sin also to the tree. There they both did hang together\u2014Sin and Sin\u2019s Destroyer. Sin destroyed Christ and by that destruction Christ destroyed Sin.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>(All <a title=\"non-magical folk; don't speak Potter\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Muggle\" target=\"_blank\">muggles<\/a> can drop out now.)<\/p>\n<p>This makes me think of the way Harry, our conquering hero, had to be destroyed by Voldemort in order to destroy Voldemort. Remember that final horcrux!? In the last battle Voldemort thought he was killing Harry but, ah glorious <a title=\"protagonist snatches victory from defeat; coined by JRRT\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Eucatastrophe\" target=\"_blank\">eucatastrophe<\/a>!, the only thing he ultimately destroyed was his chance of survival. Boo yah, JKR!
