And Balaam took up his discourse and said,

\ngive ear to me, O son of Zippor:
\nGod is not man, that he should lie,
\nor a son of man, that he should change his mind.
\nHas he said, and will he not do it?
\nOr has he spoken, and will he not fulfill it?
\nBehold, I received a command to bless:
\nhe has blessed, and I cannot revoke it.
\nHe has not beheld misfortune in Jacob,
\nnor has he seen trouble in Israel.
\nThe LORD their God is with them,
\nand the shout of a king is among them.
\nGod brings them out of Egypt
\nand is for them like the horns of the wild ox.
\nFor there is no enchantment against Jacob,
\nno divination against Israel;
\nnow it shall be said of Jacob and Israel,
\n\u2018What has God wrought!\u2019
\nBehold, a people! As a lioness it rises up
\nand as a lion it lifts itself;
\nit does not lie down until it has devoured the prey
\nand drunk the blood of the slain.\u201d

\nHow lovely are your tents, O Jacob,
\nyour encampments, O Israel!
\nLike palm groves that stretch afar,
\nlike gardens beside a river,
\nlike aloes that the LORD has planted,
\nlike cedar trees beside the waters.
\nWater shall flow from his buckets,
\nand his seed shall be in many waters;
\nhis king shall be higher than Agag,
\nand his kingdom shall be exalted.
\nGod brings him out of Egypt
\nand is for him like the horns of the wild ox;
\nhe shall eat up the nations, his adversaries,
\nand shall break their bones in pieces
\nand pierce them through with his arrows.

\nI behold him, but not near:
\na star shall come out of Jacob,
\nand a scepter shall rise out of Israel;
\nit shall crush the forehead of Moab
\nand break down all the sons of Sheth.
\nEdom shall be dispossessed;
\nSeir also, his enemies, shall be dispossessed.
\nIsrael is doing valiantly.
\nAnd one from Jacob shall exercise dominion
\nand destroy the survivors of cities!\u201d
