Since Jesus\u2019 death, Christians have proclaimed the cross and resurrection of Jesus to be the decisive turning point for all creation. On Good Friday, millions of Christians set aside our other concerns to meditate upon what this astonishing claim means.<\/p>\n

One way to meditate on the crucifixion is to read and reflect on the seven sayings of Jesus from his cross. These sayings have been used in Good Friday services for centuries.<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. \u201cFather, forgive them, for they know not what they do.\u201d (Luke 23:34<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  2. \u201cTruly, I say to you, today you will be with me in Paradise.\u201d (Luke 23:43<\/a>)\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/li>\n
  3. \u201c[Jesus] said to his mother, \u2018Woman, behold, your son!\u2019 Then he said to the disciple, \u2018Behold, your mother!\u2019\u201d (John 19:26\u201327<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  4. \u201cMy God, my God, why have you forsaken me?\u201d (Matt. 27:46; Mark 15:34<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  5. \u201cI thirst.\u201d (John 19:28<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  6. \u201cIt is finished.\u201d (John 19:30<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n
  7. \u201cFather, into your hands I commit my spirit!\u201d (Luke 23:46<\/a>)<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
